The Leverage June 21: The Power of the Gospel of Christ

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Hebrews 11:3 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation. When it is preached, the power in it is unleashed; and when it is believed and acted upon, the power in it is deployed to produce salvation. Today’s opening Scripture tells of the power of the Gospel of Christ. It says it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. The apostle Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ because it is potent and effective to save everyone who believes it. Nobody is ashamed of what works! People are only ashamed of that which does not work. But thank God the Word works! The Gospel of Jesus Christ works! Amen! When it is mixed with faith in those who hear it, it profits greatly.
Hebrews 4:2 tells us “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them; but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” The Word of God is powerful and it is salvation to those who believe it. All by itself, the Word is powerful, but the power is not realized or experienced until it is believed and acted upon. This is a profound truth I want you to take note of. Israel, the Church in the wilderness, would have been greatly blessed by the Word preached to them, but missed out on the blessing just because they didn’t mix it with faith within when it was heard.
Matthew 15:6 tells us “And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.” As powerful as God’s Word is, the Jews in the day of Jesus couldn’t benefit of it because of their tradition. They made of none effect the Word by their tradition. You must take God’s Word at face value. You must surrender to the authority of the Word by faith. You must mix the Word with faith to see it come to pass for you. Mixing the Word with faith simply means letting it convince and persuade you in righteousness enough to act upon it. When the Word is mixed with faith, it then produces corresponding action. A doer of the Word, who has received the revelation of the Word, has mixed it with faith. Remember, the Word is only power unto salvation to those who believe it; and believing God’s Word is acting upon it.
My Solid Front (Confession): In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that I am a doer of the Word of God. I believe in the Gospel of Christ; therefore I preach it from coast to coast, acting upon the Word. Those who hear me and I see the salvation of the Lord. Amen.
Further Meditation: James 1:22-25; Acts 14:6-11.
