The leverage June 26: Stir up God’s Gift in You

2 Timothy 1:6-7

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.”

Ephesians 5:18
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.”

The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable. When God gives unto people, He gives liberally and does not reproach. God is the best Giver; no man can out give Him. If God has given you any gift, know for sure that it is yours for the taking. You have what God has given unto you. God doesn’t play with words. Whatever He has given unto you is all yours, and whatever He has not given unto you is not yours. When the Word tells us that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind; then you know that you don’t have that spirit. But whatever He has given unto you is all yours in Christ. Hallelujah!
Today’s opening Scripture reveals the admonition of the apostle Paul to Timothy his son in the faith. He tells him to stir up the gift of God in him by the putting on of his hands. The apostle Paul was sure the gift was there, and has not dissipated from Timothy when he laid his hands on him. Such is the benevolence and goodness of God to everyone. When God gives, He does it liberally and irrevocably. Therefore you have to learn to stir up the gift of God in you. Don’t let it lie fallow or dormant. Be deliberate, intentional and strategic in the use of the gift of God in you. You must stay stirred in the use of the gift of God given unto you.
How then do I stir up the gift of God in me, you might ask? Prayer and consistent use of your God-endowed gift. That’s how to make the gift work for you always. God’s gift bestowed on you makes you responsible for the operation and effectiveness of it. When you pray in other tongues, you are fanning to flame the gift of God in you. When your gift is red hot, it delivers the grace of God without delay. But when it is not, it drags in the delivery of what it contains. Again, be sensitive and conscious of what God is doing in you, and do not hesitate to use your gift daily to be a blessing to people around you. You will be fanning to flame, or stirring up the gift of God within you.
My Solid Front (Confession): In the Name of Jesus Christ, I declare that my gift is stirred up in me as I pray in other tongues and use it to bless God’s people. I refuse to hide my gift; I use it to the glory of God and the edification of the Church in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Further Meditation: Ephesians 4:7-8; Romans 12:4-8.
